SU Receives ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge Recognition

SALISBURY, MD---When it comes to political engagement, a significant portion of Salisbury University students are “ALL IN.”

SU was named a Bronze Campus at the 2024 ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge Awards ceremony, recognizing the institution for achieving a student voting rate up to 29% in the 2022 midterm election.

The event honored colleges and universities nationwide committed to increasing student voting rates.

“Voting is an essential component of our democracy and many of our students will have the opportunity to exercise this right for the first time while at SU,” said President Carolyn Ringer Lepre. “This award recognizes not only our students' commitment to civic engagement but also highlights the vital role that our Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE) plays in promoting voter education, registration and participation on our campus.”

This year marked the third time ALL IN recognized SU for its student voting rates. The University also received ALL IN honors for the 2018 and 2020 elections.

“The ALL IN Awards were created to celebrate nonpartisan democratic engagement and the outstanding campus voter registration and turnout rates achieved by our ALL IN campuses,” said Jennifer Domgal-Goldman, ALL IN executive director. “Ahead of the 2024 elections, ALL IN campuses are ready to build on the momentum from 2022 to ensure their communities are ready to make an even bigger impact this fall.

“ALL IN is proud to celebrate and honor top-performing campuses, like Salisbury University, that demonstrate that nonpartisan student voter engagement is possible and effective.”

The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge is a nonpartisan, national initiative recognizing and supporting campuses as they work to increase nonpartisan democratic engagement and full student voter participation. The challenge encourages higher education institutions to help students form the habits of active and informed citizenship, and make democratic participation a core value on their campuses.
